Discipleship in 2021

Gather small, go deeper & grow.

This year, we're going deeper with our faith.

Ps Nathan & Bec have felt strongly that the Lord is calling Nexus Church towards discipleship in 2021. The invitation is for everyone in our community - new Christians, those always in church and everyone journeying with Jesus.

It's a mature ask; a nudge into daily devotion around scripture and deliberate deeper discussions with a small group.

How it works

  1. Daily read scripture
    - we encourage you to use the SOAP study method. Scroll down for how this works.
  2. Gather regularly with a small group
    - we recommend yourself and three others
  3. Have deeper faith discussions
  4. Pray for each other

You can begin anytime and don't worry if you miss a fortnight, or if you can only meet with a few people.

The goal is to consistently journey deeper with scripture and each other throughout 2021.

Can we help to 'find your three?'

If you're new or would love to be connected with a small group, please let us know by emailing [email protected]

Our Pastoral Team will prayerfully partner you with friendly and trustworthy church members.

What is the SOAP Bible Study method?

S.O.A.P. is a way of reading the Bible reading and can include journaling (a great use for our 2021 Prayer Journal!). It can be used with any daily Bible reading plan.

S for Scripture

Open your Bible to today’s reading (according to whatever plan you are following). Take time reading and allow God to speak to you. When you are done, look for a verse that particularly spoke to you that day, and write it in your journal.

O for Observation

What do you think God is saying to you in this scripture? Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and reveal Jesus to you. Paraphrase and write this scripture down in your own words.

A for Application

How does this scripture apply to your life, your situation right now? Perhaps it is instruction, encouragement, revelation of a new promise, or corrections for a particular area of your life. Journal how this scripture can apply to you today.

P for Prayer

Take a moment to pray and ask God to speak to you, or bring revelation to the scripture you have read. You don't need to use fancy words or be overly formal, but aim to be honest and authentic.
